Although the Loire Valley and the Dordogne region of France are more well known for their magnificent fairytale castles or ‘Châteaux’, the South of France does however have a few wonderful Châteaux available for hire for weddings. Perhaps the most impressive amongst the castles on the French Riviera is the Château de La Napoule, located in the small coastal village of Mandelieu La Napoule at only a few minutes west of Cannes.
The Château de La Napoule was originally built in the 14th century and has been destroyed and rebuilt no fewer than 10 times over the course of its history. The tenth and final time being in 1918 when the property was bought by American banker turned artist, Henry Clews and his beloved wife Marie Elsie Whelen Goelet. The Château de La Napoule was a refuge for Henry Clews who fled a stressful career in finance to persue his passion; art. With Henry’s artistic vision and Marie’s architectural savyness the couple lovingly restored the castle and filled it full of Clews’ majestic sculptures and works of art. Today the Château de La Napoule is the home of the La Napoule Art Foundation and is hired out for exclusive use for weddings and special events in order to support the cultural endeavours that the foundation embarks upon.
The venue has several extraordinary event spaces which are perfect for weddings; a Medieval Diningroom with a maximum capacity of 90 people, a living room with a capacity of 70, a gallery space for up to 150 people and a wonderful outside courtyard surrounded by gardens with a capacity of up to 500 people.

The terrace overlooking the seashore is often used for ceremonies. Alternatively the walk way into the Château’s courtyard provides an ideal bridal procession walk way for wedding ceremonies in front of the castle.

A tent structure can be constructed in the courtyard space during periods of the year where the weather is more unreliable to provide cover from the elements.

The venue’s director Alexis Vrousos has helped many couples organise their special day at the Château de La Napoule and is more than willing to go that extra mile to assist with the coordination of local vendors should you require.
You can reach Mr Vrousos by telephone on +33 (0)4 93 49 95 05 or by email on vrousos@chateau-lanapoule.com. To find out more information about the Château de La Napoule , you can visit the venue’s website: www.chateau-lanapoule.com.
