My Riviera Wedding

Located in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and its gardens is a truly unique wedding venue on the French Riviera. Commissioned on a whim at the beginning of the 20^th century by the then Baroness of Rothschild, today, the establishment is a museum owned by the French Academy of Fine Art. The venue is the only genuine Belle Epoque building of its kind open to the public and contains many lavish, extremely rare antiques. The property is surrounded by 9 gardens, each one taking inspiration from flora found in different countries around the world.

The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild can be hired for exclusive use for weddings year-round with ample inside and outside space for wedding ceremonies and receptions of up to 300 guests. Due to the fact that the venue is open to the public during the day until 18.00 in mid-season and 19.00 during the months of July and August, only evening wedding celebrations are a possibility from 19.00 until 03.00 from September to June and 20.00 to 03.00 in July and August. However, very small, informal wedding ceremonies can be carried out in the day time during the public opening hours amongst visitors. Thankfully, the venue is quite flexible in terms of set-up time, allowing suppliers to deliver and begin installing equipment from 07.00 in the morning. The venue charges an exclusive use fee which increases with the number of guests with the first price corresponding to groups of 120 people or less. The exclusive use fee in my opinion is accessible yet does reflect the exclusiveness of such a wonderful venue.

The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild has quite firm regulations regarding wedding suppliers, privileging a handful of companies with whom they work regularly for catering, decoration and entertainment, and who know the venue and its constraints inside out. There is however no hard and fast rule in terms of which wedding planners the venue will work with, as long as they in turn work with the venue’s exclusive suppliers.

For ease of access, the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild has parking for up to 80 cars; additional spaces can be found close by to the venue in the town of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
